Inspiration Station

In this somewhat fuzzy picture of my desk at work.. you will see several things that inspire me beyond belief and get me through my work day.

The highlights are:

– A woman with grey hair on a surfboard… because if I’m half that cool when my hair is all grey, I will consider this a life well lived.
–  A card that a coworker from a past job gave me that says “Tolerance”. I think she was trying to tell me something.
– Cute shoes. For without a regular paycheck I could not afford life’s simple luxuries.
– An illustration of Parvati, my favorite Indian goddess. She’s the epitome of girl power, but in a totally soft, approachable way.
– A picture of a mala to remind me of my meditation practice.
– A cute kitten. So. Freakin. FUZZY! I just want to squeeze it! Oh yeah. It also reminds me to be gentle and kind and stuff…. and that I like kitties.. and doggies!
– Om.

Do you have an inspiration board? What’s on yours?

I have an inspiration bird! My friend gave it to me and told me that no matter what I wrote, the bird would always love me and think I was wonderful. Perhaps a little silly, but sometimes when I'm having a wretched writing day, I look at that bird and feel a bit better. 😉

When I worked in an office, I had a "beach scenes" screen saver that I pretended was a window (because there was no window!)…and I listen to music – always listening to music! Right now, Pandora is my THING. Creating new stations, with my favorite electronica, inspires me – I got lots: http://ow.ly/61ftW 🙂 I position myself by a window, looking out into the back yard…and when it's raining I'll enjoy a cup of green tea. And a little candle and champa incense. It's the simple things.

I don't have an inspiration board, but i like to fill my journal with fun little pics.. poses that i want to try (or are building up to try), beautiful flowers, inspiring words.. so when i write in my journal i can be reminded of the things i love, that i'm working towards, and if i'm having a bad day, will remind me that this too shall pass.. wonderful inspiration, thank you for sharing!

Ha, Suzanne! Inspiration bird. I love it!

AlignBetween, Thanks for sharing your Pandora station! And I agree wholeheartedly that the little things can make all the difference in an otherwise stressful day!

Fortheloveofyoga, Have you read Writing Yoga yet? I'm reading it right now and am uber inspired to start a journal to complement my yoga practice and blog!

Hannah, And I thought for SURE that you'd comment on the "tolerance" card! Miss you, too!

I have pictures of Scarlet & Nicki, and a little elephant that my Grandmy left me. I also have a Buddha head that appears to have once been on salt shaker top that showed up on my desk one day – a mystery puja from a secret admirer I guess.

I also get to look out at the water from my desk which is lovely and for which I am grateful.

Namaste, mama!

I'm Erica. I'm a yoga teacher who helps pregnant and new mamas find more balance in their life through yoga, mindfulness, self-care, inspiration, community, and humor. I spoil my yoga students rotten (in a good way!), and it's my mission to teach mamas that it's not selfish to spoil themselves every now and then, too.
