Where Have I Been!?

When I started this blog, I had one mission: To inspire people who read it to incorporate yoga into their lives. But a  few months ago, I stopped feeling inspirational. There were bad things happening all around me. It felt like my world was collapsing.

Nobody wants to read about that shit.

So I put Spoiled Yogi and my online social life on the back burner, and I started looking for inspiration. I tried new, more spiritually-based styles of yoga. I meditated. I read books. I made an attempt to spend more time with friends. I took more baths. I ate more vegetables. I went to all the appointments I’d been putting off.
I took care of myself.

I’m happy to report that I’m feeling a lot better these days. And there have been plenty of wonderful things to balance out the bad that’s happened. I bought a house! I made a baby (ETA April 20!)! I got an iPad!

There are so many things to catch you up on. In between my full-time job, getting ready for baby, painting the rooms in our house (OK, providing moral support for the painting), my fulfilling and gratifying freelance work, and continuing to make time for myself and my practice, I think I can start blogging a little more.

There are a lot of great nuggets of inspiration in my life again, and I can’t wait to share them all with you. I’ve missed you!!

    Congratulations with your baby! How lovely! Remember being pregnant is not a time to start new advance practice but to go more inwards. Pre-natal yoga is great. No inversions or down ward facing dog – why not – well think about what happens as your belly grows…more weight put on your internal organs like lungs, heart, throat etc that is not used to this extra weight. You will have time in your life to do all of those poses so wait for a while and enjoy this time being pregnant! Congrats again! So happy for you!

    When my Google reader said 'a new post from Spoiled Yogi' my first reaction was 'when is Google going to get the bugs out of that thing' 🙂

    Glad to see you back on the blog, course we've been following you on Yoga Journal as well.

    I've had periods like this and I always still feel grateful for friends (and one very understanding boss) to help me through them.

    Later in life as you think about these times you'll just say 'that was a crappy time' – but dwell no longer than that about it.

    Whoo hoo! I've missed you and am thrilled to hear about all of the good bounty in your life. I truly think it's good to step away from the noise from time to time ~ I equate it to a monk going off to meditate in a cave but still being able to pay the mortgage!
